Train Load Out Efficiency
Mid-Kansas Coop (MKC) is operating a rail loading terminal in Milan, Kansas. This facility is similar to many facilities throughout the country, however, this grain facility can load a 110 car train much more quickly than most. Typically, this process takes 16 to 20 hours. At the Milan facility, the same load can be accomplished in 5 ½ to 6 hours, resulting in tremendous cost savings.
Other automation benefits include:
- Prevention of mixing or co-mingling of commodities
- Maximization of throughput of trucks through the pits and rail loadout operations
- Simplicity in operation, entailing less manpower
